Gradienti

by Laura Sattin

The 'Gradienti' series of mouth blown glass vases draws inspiration from the ever-changing hues of the sky, capturing its infinite color variations. Employing the traditional glassblowing technique known as 'sfumato' and skillfully blending two different colours of molten glass together, these vases aim to achieve seamless transitions between different hues, creating a gradient effect reminiscent of the subtle shifts in colour seen in natural phenomena like the sky at dawn or dusk.

Due to the inherent unpredictability of the glass melting and hot working process, each vase has its own unique characteristics. Some display perfectly smooth transitions between colors, while others reveal distinct boundaries akin to a horizon. The unpredictability lends each vase its distinctiveness.
